To make The Tick List is to receive On The Couch’s highest accolade for an acting performance. It may not be an Academy Award, but it’s probably the next best thing…
- Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady
- Sam Rockwell – Moon
- Javier Bardem – No Country for Old Men
- Billy Bob Thornton – Monster’s Ball
- Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight
- Magda Szubanski – Babe
- Samuel L. Jackson – Black Snake Moan
- Christian Bale – The Fighter
- Jim Carey – The Mask
- Charlize Theron – Monster
- Mo’Nique – Precious
- Christopher Waltz – Inglourious Basterds
I’m with you on Javier Badem in ‘No Country for Old Men’. I think he’s a peculiarly ugly looking guy and reminds me of my aunty. Scared the crap out of me.
haha, wow, if my aunt looked like Javier Bardem, I’d be carefully avoiding family reunions. His performance in NCFOM is truly terrifying. I get shivers looking into his eyes as he strangles that police officer in one of the opening scenes…
Agreed – callously calm and cold… you almost get the impression that Woody Harrelson (being his affable self) was so scared shitless by Bardem on the set, he didn’t even bother trying to give Bardem a high-5 (I mean, he is seriously glued to that chair in the hotel).
